South Wall: Boulder Courthouse

This is the first of a new series, where I have moved into realism (well sort of). This and all the other paintings in this series start from photgraphs. I may edit things out, like a small tree that was in the photo for this painting, and the faint reflection in the large window on the bottom left, because I wanted the piece to look somewhat dark and foreboding, like a courthouse. So there is still an expressionist flavor to this piece, even though it is based on a real place. I was facinated by the patterns created by the shadows and the deeply recessed windows.
