The starting point of the idea for this painting comes from Escher's Another World. I love the idea of multiple perspectives and planes appearing simultaneously. In Escher's work the boundaries between the background planes are hidden by the foreground architectural construction. In this piece the background is in some sense continuous, expanding or flowing outwards from the center, but the design of the foreground turns walls floors, etc. into multiple entries or Views into the background.
