Recordings - Meditation Instructions

In the Theravada form of Buddhist practice there are two forms of meditation, Metta (Loving Kindness) and Vipassana (Mindfulness). Below are two courses given over a period of weeks, one in each of these forms. These were given on a weekly basis, so if you want to go through the entire course it is suggested that you do the same, listen to a week's lesson, practice that every day for a week, and then come back and take the next lessen. This will allow the practcie to mature.

These lesson are based directly on the Satipatthana Sutta, the Buddha's instructions on Mindfulness and the Metta Sutta, the Buddha's instruction on Loving Kindness.

Metta - New Version - 2024

This is an updated version of the course I gave in 2022 that can be found below. Though it is similar to the earlier version it contains new thoughts/insights I've gained since I last taught Metta. Each of these lesson have two parts. The first part is direct instructions on the practice. In the recording I then take the listerner into meditation. When you are listening you should pause the recording at this point, practcie, and then when you are ready restart and listen to the rest of the lesson.

Metta - The Practice of Loving Kindness - 2022
A 8-week course in Metta (Loving-Kindness) Meditation based directly on the Buddha's teachings, given during my regular Thursday evening Sangha in the winter of 2022. Metta is a heart centered practice. In the Theravada tradition it is seen as a balance to the more mind centered practice of Vipassana. These lessons replace the original versions I gave early in 2020 during the pandemic.

Mindfulness Wisdom Teachings - The Satipatthana Sutta
